SleepSmart Online Intervention

The SleepSmart website was developed for a study led by the University of Washington School of Nursing. Designed as an online intervention, the site is targeted for children ages eight to twelve who have sleeping issues stemming from juvenile arthritis.

This website was developed with input from the representative audience through participatory design, usability studies and a focus group.

Wireframes and User Interface

The wireframes informed the overall structure of the lesson modules. Once a beta template was created online, our team held a usability testing session with parents and children to ensure that the flow of the modules were logical and able to be navigated independently.

User Interface Themes

Our team held a focus group with some very opinionated 10 year old girls. They loved the animal and space theme, and ultimately decided that the space one was more appropriate because it reminded them of nighttime and dreaming. They suggested bolder colors so that the user wouldn't fall asleep while using the site!

Mobile Views: Inform and Redirect for best Experience

The educational focus of this website is best ingested using a desktop computer but our team wanted the site to be appropriately responsive. The mobile site offers an introduction to each lesson and prompts users to visit the site on a computer. This ensures mobile users can still access content without compromising the integrity of each lesson module.
